PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR AMERICAN CIVIL WAR CHESS SET CONFEDERATE -716 ROOK Flag - Red 947. Ribbon on flag blue 899. Trim & stars white 951. Drum grey 995. Add white 951 to grey 995 and shade in. Repeat this twice more. Bands gold 878. KNIGHT Horse - Dark flesh 927. Add white 951 to flesh 927 and brush over horse to highlight. Rider - Grey 995. Leave to dry. Add white 951 to grey 995 and dry brush. Repeat the last stage twice more. Highlight creases with white 951. Black belts on horse & rider - Black 950. Sword - Black 950 and silver mixed. BISHOP Cap jacket & trousers are painted using the same colour and technique as the knight rider. Sash - Red 926 trimmed with gold 898. Sword - Black 950 mixed with silver. PAWNS Cap, jacket & trousers - same as knight. Rifle - Brown 985. Handle of gun - Brown 985 mixed with white 951. KING Trousers - 819 Sand. When dry, add white and dry brush to highlight. Coat - Light brown 929 washed down with brown 985. Waistcoat - Light brown 929 and white 951 mixed together. Collar & shoes - 995 Grey. On top of shoes, brown 985 to highlight. Book - Red 947. Pages - White 951. Hair - Light brown 929 and white 951 mixed together, with a wash down of brown 985. QUEEN Trim of dress - Red 947 thinned down. Dress - Grey blue 943. Add white 951 to grey 943 to make squares on dress. Then line the dress with red 947. Glasses - Silver Hair - Brown 985 thinned down. Hair net - Black 950 thinned down. BASE Black 950 shaded around standing area with grey 995 and white 951 mixed and dry brushed.
